Attributes

Flowtly Editorial Team2 min

The Attributes module in Flowtly provides a flexible system for defining custom properties that can be assigned to employees, projects, and other entities across the platform. Attributes allow organizations to capture data points that are specific to their business processes without requiring changes to the core system.

Attribute sets let administrators group related attributes together and apply them consistently to specific entity types. For example, a "Technical Skills" attribute set might include programming languages, certifications, and proficiency levels, and can be assigned to all employee profiles within a particular department.

Attribute rules define validation logic and conditional behavior for attributes. Rules can enforce required fields, set default values, restrict available options based on other attribute values, or trigger actions when an attribute changes. This ensures data quality and consistency across the organization.

Attribute pricing and billing rates extend the system into financial territory, allowing organizations to associate cost or billing rates with specific attribute values. For instance, employees with a particular certification might carry a different billing rate, or projects tagged with a specific attribute might follow a different pricing model.

Example use cases

  • Define custom skill attributes for employees and use them to match candidates to project requirements.
  • Create attribute sets for project classification, such as industry vertical, delivery model, or risk level.
  • Configure attribute rules to enforce mandatory fields when certain conditions are met.
  • Set billing rates based on employee attributes like seniority level or specialized certification.
  • Use attribute-based filtering to generate reports segmented by custom business dimensions.
