Cost split

General

Dividing one cost, such as a supplier invoice, between several projects or assets. Each part carries its share of the amount, and the parts add up to the whole.

Why it matters

A security contract for a whole site or a cleaning invoice for a whole building belongs to many projects at once. Without a split, the full cost lands on one of them and every project margin after it is wrong.

Formula

Project share = cost × project's attribute value ÷ sum of all projects' attribute values

Worked example

A 3 000 cleaning invoice is shared by three tenants renting 100, 200 and 300 m². Split by rented area, they carry 500, 1 000 and 1 500.

In Flowtly

On a supplier invoice, the split can be filled in proportion to a project attribute, by a cascade from an asset attribute to a project attribute, or by meter consumption. The shares come from the attribute values recorded on your assets and projects and always add up to the invoice total.
