Attribute

General

A data field your organisation defines itself and records on its own records, such as the floor area of a building or the rented area of a tenant's project. It is defined once, and its value is entered on each record that carries it.

Why it matters

Standard fields never cover everything a business measures. Attributes let you keep the numbers your billing and cost sharing depend on next to the records they describe, instead of in a spreadsheet beside the system.

Worked example

A property manager defines a Floor area number attribute for buildings and a Rented area attribute for tenant projects. Those two values later decide how a shared utilities invoice is split.

In Flowtly

Attributes are defined under Settings → Advanced → Attributes and reach a record through an attribute set for properties, projects or budgets. A number attribute can price a billing rate or drive a cost split; text, period and state attributes record other facts.
