Work schedule

General

The pattern of working days, start and end times and breaks an employee is expected to follow. A schedule can describe standard office hours, a part-time arrangement or rotating shifts.

Why it matters

Time tracking, overtime and leave entitlements are all measured against expected hours. Without a schedule that matches the employment agreement, an absence or an extra hour cannot be counted correctly.

Worked example

A clinic sets a 9-to-5 schedule for office staff and a rotating early-and-late shift schedule for reception. A part-time nurse gets a three-day schedule that matches her agreement.

In Flowtly

Work schedules are templates of working days, times and breaks, assigned to individual employees or groups, with schedule ranges for seasonal, part-time or rotating patterns. They connect the hours set in an employee's agreement with time tracking and leave.
