Cash-out
GeneralThe money leaving the business over a coming period: invoices due to be paid and expected obligations not yet invoiced. A cash-out view looks forward rather than back at what has already been paid.
Why it matters
Most cash shortfalls can be seen weeks ahead in payments that are already committed. Seeing upcoming and overdue outflows week by week leaves time to move a payment, chase a receivable or arrange financing before the account runs short.
Worked example
A finance lead sees on the cash-out chart a week in November where several large supplier invoices fall due together. She chases two large receivables so that they arrive before that week.
In Flowtly
Cash-out shows upcoming and overdue payments from about two weeks back to three months ahead, as a chart, a calendar or a list. Expected items that are not yet invoiced are shown muted, and overdue amounts in red.
