Business management with Grok: connect Flowtly over MCP

Run invoices, projects, time tracking and deals from a Grok chat. Connect Grok to your Flowtly organization over MCP in six steps.

MCPBeginner6 minutes

Before you start

Connect Grok to Flowtly and it becomes a chat interface for managing your business: invoices, projects, time tracking, contracts and your sales pipeline. Flowtly runs a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at https://mcp.flowtly.eu/mcp; once Grok is connected, it answers plain-language questions from your live Flowtly data and can carry out a curated set of named actions, such as logging work time or updating a task.

You need a Grok plan that includes custom connectors and a Flowtly account with access to the organization you want to connect. The connection signs in as you, so Grok never goes beyond what your own Flowtly permissions allow.

Step-by-step

Complete the flow

  1. 1

    Open the Grok connectors page

Sign in at grok.com and go to grok.com/connectors. Custom connectors are part of Grok’s paid plans. In a Grok Business or Enterprise team, an admin has to add the connector for the organization before members can use it.

    Tips

    • No option to add a custom connector? Check your Grok plan, or ask your Grok workspace admin.
  2. 2

    Create a custom connector

Click “New connector”, choose “Custom” and give it a recognisable name, such as Flowtly. In the server URL field, paste https://mcp.flowtly.eu/mcp exactly, including /mcp at the end.

    Tips

    • Paste the URL rather than typing it. Without the /mcp path, Grok finds no tools.
  3. 3

    Sign in to Flowtly

Grok opens the Flowtly sign-in page. Log in with your Flowtly account, choose the organization Grok should work in and approve the access request. You are then sent back to Grok.

    Tips

    • A connection is bound to exactly one organization. If you work in several, add a separate connector for each.
    • You never paste a password or API key into Grok. Authorization happens on Flowtly’s own sign-in page.
  4. 4

Enable the connector in a chat

Flowtly now appears as connected on the connectors page, and Grok discovers the Flowtly tools automatically. Open a new chat and make sure the Flowtly connector is switched on for that conversation.

    Tips

    • If the connector shows an error, remove it and add it again. That restarts the sign-in.
  5. 5

Check which organization you are connected to

Ask: “Which Flowtly organization am I connected to?” Grok asks Flowtly and replies with the organization’s name. Do this before you ask Grok to create or change anything.

    Tips

    • Wrong organization? Disconnect the connector and sign in again, choosing the right one.
  6. 6

Ask your first question, then act

Start with a read-only question, such as “Which invoices are overdue?” or “Which active projects is Anna assigned to?” Grok answers from your live Flowtly data. When you are ready, ask for an action, for example “Log 2 hours on the Website project for today.”

    Tips

    • Approving a supplier invoice is not available over MCP. Use Flowtly Assistant inside Flowtly for approval decisions.
