Business management with Claude: connect Flowtly over MCP
Ask Claude about invoices, cash and projects, then have it log time or close a deal. Connect Claude to your Flowtly organization over MCP in six steps.
Topics:AI and integrations (MCP)
Before you start
Connect Claude to Flowtly and it becomes a chat interface for managing your business: invoices, projects, time tracking, contracts and your sales pipeline. Flowtly runs a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server at https://mcp.flowtly.eu/mcp; once Claude is connected, it answers plain-language questions from your live Flowtly data and can carry out a curated set of named actions, such as logging work time, updating a task or closing a deal.
You need a Claude plan that allows custom connectors. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may have to add or allow the connector first. The connection signs in as you, so Claude never goes beyond what your own Flowtly permissions allow.
Step-by-step
Complete the flow
- 1
Open Connectors in Claude
In Claude, on the web or in the desktop app, open Settings → “Connectors”.
Tips
- Anthropic has moved this page before. If it is not there, look up custom connectors in Claude's help center for your plan.
- No option to add a connector in a Team or Enterprise organization? Ask your Claude owner to add Flowtly for the organization.
- 2
Add Flowtly as a custom connector
Click “Add custom connector”. Name it Flowtly, paste https://mcp.flowtly.eu/mcp as the remote MCP server URL and click “Add”.
Tips
- Leave the advanced OAuth client ID and secret empty: Claude registers itself with Flowtly automatically. Flowtly MCP does not accept a static API key.
- Working in Claude Code instead? Run claude mcp add --transport http flowtly https://mcp.flowtly.eu/mcp, then choose “Authenticate” for the new Flowtly server.
- 3
Connect and sign in to Flowtly
Click “Connect” next to the new Flowtly connector. A Flowtly sign-in window opens: log in with the email and password you use for the Flowtly web app.
Tips
- Already signed in to Flowtly in this browser? The sign-in step is skipped.
- 4
Choose the organization and approve
The “Connect to Flowtly” screen shows what Claude is asking for. Pick the organization Claude should work in from the “Organization” list and click “Approve”. You are then sent back to Claude, with the connector on.
Tips
- The screen labels Claude as an “unverified app” because it registered itself with Flowtly. That is expected: check the name and the organization before you approve.
- A connection is bound to exactly one organization. If you work in several, connect once for each.
- 5
Check the connection in a chat
Open a new chat. If Claude lists connectors in a menu in the message box, check that Flowtly is switched on there. Then ask: “Which Flowtly organization am I connected to?” and check the name before you change anything.
Tips
- Claude asks before it uses a connector tool unless you chose to always allow it, and Flowtly marks every delete as irreversible. Read the proposed action before you allow anything that changes data.
- 6
Ask your first question, then act
Start with a read-only question, such as “Which invoices are overdue?” or “How much did we spend with our top supplier last quarter?” When you are ready, ask for an action, for example “Log three hours on the Acme project for today.”
Tips
- Approving a supplier invoice is not available over MCP. Use Flowtly Assistant inside Flowtly for approval decisions.
You’re finished!
Claude is now connected to your Flowtly organization. You can disconnect or remove the connector at any time under Settings → “Connectors”.
